Bus Éireann Revises Limerick to Dublin Airport and Dublin City Expressway Route 12 & Introduces Limi

  • Travel from Limerick to Dublin city in 2 hours 45 minutes on the new X12

Bus Éireann has announced a new timetable on its Expressway Route 12 commercial service, now operating with several more direct services between Limerick, Nenagh, Portlaoise, Dublin city and Dublin Airport. The new timetable on Expressway Route 12 service will begin on 14 October 2012.

Route 12 will operate eight times a day (Monday to Sunday) from Limerick to Dublin city and seven times a day from Dublin Airport to Limerick (Monday to Sunday).

Bus Éireann is also introducing a new limited stop service, X12, which provides a journey time of just 2 hours and 45 minutes between Limerick and Dublin city. The X12, which also begins on Sunday, 14 October operates from Limerick, University of Limerick, Nenagh, Portlaoise and non-stop to Dublin city and Dublin Airport.

Route X12 will operate three times a day in each direction from Limerick to Dublin city and Dublin Airport (Monday to Thursday, and Saturday) with two additional services on a Friday and Sunday. Customers can travel from Nenagh to Dublin in just 1 hour and 55 minutes and Portlaoise to Dublin in 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Route 12 service will depart Limerick to Dublin city and Dublin Airport at 05:30; 08:30; 10:30; 12:30; 14:30; 17:30; 18:30 and 20:30.

The limited stop X12 will depart Limerick to Dublin Airport at 09:30; 11:30; 15:30 (Monday-Sunday); 13:30 (Friday only); and 16:15 (Friday and Sunday only).

Route 12 service will depart from Dublin Airport (Monday-Sunday) at 07:00; 10:00; 13:00; 14:00; 16:00; 17:00 and 20:00.

The limited stop X12 will depart Dublin Airport to Limerick at 07:45; 11:45; and 14:45 (Monday-Sunday).

Customers travelling from Limerick to Dublin city should be aware that it costs as little as €13 for an adult single or day return trip and €24:00 for an adult monthly return. There are also special midweek, student, family and child discounts available.

These improved services will provide customers with increased connections between Limerick, Dublin Airport and Dublin city.

On the Route 12 an early morning service in Limerick at 05:30 arriving in Dublin Airport at 09:05 is ideal for customers catching early flights.

Additional departure stops have also been added at University of Limerick, Annacotty Bridge, Childers Road Retail Park and to Heuston Station in Dublin.

The vast majority of vehicles on Route 12 are Wi-Fi enabled.

Going to Dublin city and Dublin Airport will be an even better experience for our customers allowing them to sit back, relax and enjoy not having to pay tolls, parking charges or fuel costs,” said Miriam Flynn, Regional Manager, South-West, Bus Éireann.

Regular commuting customers are advised that they can make savings of up to 52% on their annual and monthly Bus Éireann ticket with the Taxsaver Commuter Ticket. Customers can also avail of a Weekly (10 journey) Ticket, which is valid for 10 journeys as specified from the date of purchase.

The changes to the Expressway Route 12 have been approved by the National Transport Authority.
