School Transport Services

Disruption due to Flooding

Parents/Guardians of children using school transport services are advised that due to flooding a small number of routes in some parts of the country may be subject to disruption, due to circumstances beyond our control. 

Where flooding is an issue most services will operate with diversions, though we envisage a minor amount of services will be unable to operate until flood waters recede further.  This situation is being closely monitored and in these areas normal services will resume as soon as it is physically possible to do so.    

The areas currently affected include:

 

Area

 

North Mayo

All services will operate, some diversions will apply

South Mayo

Ballinrobe/Neale Area, services will operate with diversions

Carlow

Services operating normally with some local diversions

Kilkenny

Services operating normally with some local diversions

Tipperary

Services operating normally with some local diversions

Waterford

Services operating normally with some local diversions

Wexford

Services operating normally with some local diversions

Galway

Service to Kilcolgan ETNS from the Labane/Kilcolgan area to operate with diversions.  Diversion also in place on service to Claregalway National School from the Cregboy/Lydican area and to Tuam Post Primary where pupils from the Cartoon Road will have to come to Lavally Road Junction.
Service to Williamstown National School is affected by flooding at Killalag with service diverted via Kilmore leading to a short delay.  Service to Dunmore National School is affected by flooding at Carrowkeel and a diversion is in place leading to delays.
Services to Gort and Kinvara schools will operate but will be rerouted via Kilcolgan.  Service to Ballyglass National School also re-routed

Roscommon

Carrowmore/Ballintubber area to Castlerea Post Primary, Co. Roscommon is currently unable to operate.  Local diversions also in place to Castlesampson National School.

Westmeath

All services operating with some local disruptions.  St Pauls National School, Athlone is closed due to flooding
Old Longford Road between Lough Owel and Wilsons Hospital Post Primary is flooding and pupils will be picked up at the hospital in Mullingar, service will only operate along the main road.

Offaly

Flooding in the Pollagh area serving Ferbane post primary centre means this service may operate to the closest safe point to Pollagh village only.  Polllagh pick up point is at the Community Centre.  There is also disruption from the Rathshiren area to Ferbane Post Primary

Longford

Service to Moyne on the R14070 will be disrupted affecting a small number of families

Cork

Diversions will be in place on the Killeagh to Castlemartyr Road in East Cork affecting services to Midleton post primary, Carrigtwohill primary and Ballinadee primary schools.  Services to Scoil Triest in Cork City from East Cork will also be subject to diversion. 
Diversion also in place in Stoneview/Blarney area to Whitechurch National School
Diversion also in place from Ahiohill to Lyre to Clonakility Post Primary Schools due to road collapse
Diversion in place from Farnivane to Bandon Post Primary
Diversion in place from Inch to Midleton Post Primary

Limerick/Galway

Services to Gort and Kinvara schools will operate but will be rerouted via Kilcolgan.  Service to Ballyglass National School also  re-routed

Monaghan

No services to Castleblayney Central National School, Oram National School and Castleblayney Post Primary from the Keady Road

Cavan

No service to St. Bricin's Post Primary, Belturbet from the Belturbet-Killeshandra Road

Wicklow

A section of road between Rathdrum and Avoca near Moran’s Garage has collapsed resulting in services to Arklow Post Primary being diverted, short delays are being incurred.

Services in all other areas are expected to operate normally
