Bus Éireann advise of further cancellations to school transport services

Bus Éireann advise of further cancellations to school transport services and possible impact on some road passenger services due to Hurricane Ophelia

Customers advised to check website ahead of planned journeys in any areas affected by Red Weather Alert

Bus Éireann  will not operate School Transport Scheme services tomorrow in the counties of Waterford, Wexford and Limerick in line with its policy to stand these down in a Status Red weather alert. Met Éireann  today extended the red weather alert to these three counties. Parents, schools and school bus contractors operating on behalf of Bus Éireann  have already been advised that school transport services will not operate tomorrow in the counties of Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway and Mayo. Please see www.buseireann.ie/redalert for further details. This applies to all school transport services in these eight counties, including those for Special Needs students.

Bus Éireann also want to advise passengers of likely disruption to some scheduled road passenger services tomorrow. While it is our current intention to operate most scheduled  services there is a strong possibility that some of these may be cancelled – particularly in the southwest - in the event of a strong impact by Hurricane Ophelia. We regret that this may cause inconvenience but passenger and employee safety is our utmost priority - given the hurricane has been described as a ‘life threatening event’ - and advice from  several government agencies to take action to mitigate against this.

We advise customers to check www.buseireann.ie or Twitter/Facebook @buseireann for updates on any disruption to services.
