The X51 is a new high frequency Express service between Limerick and Galway with a journey time of just 90 minutes.
“The quicker journey times of the new X20 and X51 services cut travelling time for customers while also saving them money on car parking and toll charges and fuel costs. With our high quality coaches, customers can sit back, relax and enjoy getting to their destination in great times,” said Andrew McLindon, PR Manager, Bus Éireann.
From Galway, the X20 serves only Loughrea, Ballinasloe and Athlone, and then goes direct from Athlone to Dublin Airport and Dublin city via the M6 motorway. With the direct link from Athlone, customers can travel from Athlone to Dublin Airport in just 1 hour and 20 minutes. The X20 will begin operation on Sunday, August 15th 2010.
The X20 has seven departures from Galway daily. Services leave Galway city every two hours from 7.30am until 7.30pm. The X20 departs Dublin city every two hours from 8am until 8pm daily.
Bus Éireann’s existing Route 20 Galway-Dublin service will now operate every two hours in each direction and will continue to serve towns such as Oranmore, Craughwell, Moate, Kilbeggan and Kinnegad each way along its route.
The X51 Limerick-Galway operates direct via Gort and Oranmore.
From Limerick, the X51 operates nine times each day Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, it operates eight times a day.
From Galway, the X51 operates ten times a day from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, there are nine departures from Galway Bus and on Sundays there are eight departures.
The new X51 services are in addition to Bus Éireann’s existing 14 services a day each way between Galway and Limerick on Route 51.
