NTA Fares Determination for Bus Éireann 2018
The following is a summary of fares changes effective 1 December 2018:
Regional Cities & Towns
- Cash single fares on all city and town services increased by 10 cent for adult and child
- Leap Card discount to remain at 30%. Therefore, Leap single city and town fares increased by 7 cent for adult and child
- No increase to city Schoolchild cash or Leap Single fare
- New Student Red Zone 24hr Leap product (€4.00) in Galway, Limerick & Waterford cities
- Extension of Waterford city Red Zone to include Tramore. Fares to drop in Tramore as a result e.g. Tramore Waterford Adult Single €3.20 dropping to €2.80
- 24 hr, 7-day, Monthly and Annual City Commuter ticket fare increases from 0.0% to 3.8%
- New outer zone Town fares to be applied on D1 & S2 services.
This will result in significant drop in fares from Laytown to Drogheda and Strandhill/Rosses Point to Sligo e.g. Laytown/Drogheda Ad Single €4.70 dropping to €2.40, Strandhill to Rosses Point (end to end) Adult Single €6.00 dropping to €2.40. - Cross city outer zone Single fares to apply for journeys >7.5kms in Cork, Limerick & Galway
Commuter & Stage Carriage (Scale Fares)
- New Leap Green Zone in Cork from boundary areas of Bandon, Fermoy, Kinsale, Macroom & Mallow. New reduced rate Leap Monthly and Annual Taxsaver products offering up to €500 in annual savings for some customers. Additional value with Green Zone products valid on all Red Zone city services also
- No change to cash Single fares except for unit bands 0-8, where 10c increase applies
- Leap Single fare discount to remain at 30%
- Average 2.5% increase on cash Day Returns & average -2.5% decrease on cash Monthly Returns as first step towards merging of Day/Monthly Return fares
- Adult 10 Journey fare changes of between -3.7% to 1.4%
- Adult point to point Monthly & Annual Taxsaver fare changes vary -2.7% to 1.3%
- Non-Scale (Special) fares: average increase of no more than 6%
- GDA Commuter Leap zonal 24hr, 7 Day, Monthly & Annual product fare changes from 0.0% to 1.7%
