Bus Éireann announce Christmas service schedule

Extra late night services in GDA & Cork, Park ‘n’ Rides for shoppers

Bus Éireann today announced its timetables for the Christmas and New Year period, with some extra services over the festive season.
Buses will run every day across the Christmas holiday period - apart from December 25 - with services operating standard timetables with some exceptions.

Additional late night services

Late night services in the East include Nightrider services from Dublin to Balbriggan, Drogheda, Naas, Newbridge, Sallins and Clane over the Christmas period. A 24 hour service will also operate on Route 109A: Kells-Navan-Dunshaughlin-Ratoath-Ashbourne-Dublin Airport-Dublin City Centre.

In Cork, additional late night services will operate this weekend (Friday & Saturday) & next weekend December 22 and 23rd.
These special Christmas services will depart each night at 01.00, 02.00 & 03.00 from St. Patrick Street, Cork City to Douglas, Carrigaline, Ballingcollig, Blarney and Midleton and regular day fares apply.

Christmas Holiday Week 

On Christmas Eve, all city and commuter/rural services nationwide will operate up until approximately 9pm. There will be no services on Christmas Day.
City & commuter services will operate to a Sunday timetable on both Bank Holidays of December 26th and January 1st, while a full timetable schedule will operate from December 27 to 30th.

Discounts of up to 30% are available on single journeys through use of Leap Card.

Expressway inter-city services will operate every day, except for Christmas Day, and customers are advised to check www.expressway.ie for the full details of the modified times.

Park & Ride

The annual Christmas Park & Ride in Cork is currently operating every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas Eve, December 24th. Adult Return tickets cost  €3.00 or €5.00 Family (2 adults and 3 children). The service operates between County Hall and Sheare’s Street every 15 minutes from 09.30 to 20.30 on Saturday and 10.30 to 20.30 on Sundays (last service is 18.00 on Christmas Eve).

The annual Christmas Park & Ride in Galway will operate daily from December 14 until Christmas Eve. Return tickets cost €2 per person with children travelling for free, and all-day parking at Ballybrit is free of charge. The service runs from Galway Racecourse to the Fairgreen, City Centre from 09.30 to 21.30 each day and from 11.00 to 19.00 on Sunday. Buses run every 15 minutes in both directions.  

Special fares

In Galway, Bus Éireann are also offering special Christmas fares of only €10 adult return for customers travelling on routes serving Tuam, Gort, Ballinasloe, Loughrea, Headford, Cong, Clifden, Mountbellew, Lettermullen and Carraroe. This special offer is running until December 24 inclusive. Children under sixteen travel for €5 Day Return from East, South and West Galway to Galway city.
