Updated travel advice as capacity increases to 75% from Monday 19 July

From Monday 19 July, public transport capacity increases from 50% to 75% including all Bus Éireann and Expressway services.

Customers are asked please not to sit in the marked-off aisle seats and to leave the rows behind the driver vacant. We ask customers to be considerate of other passengers, and respectful towards public transport workers.  The law requires customers to wear face masks within bus stations, whilst boarding the bus and throughout their entire journey, with exemptions. Drivers wear a face mask while passengers are boarding and alighting. Face masks are available at vending machines in stations. Hand sanitising units are available on board and in stations.

It is advisable to travel outside of peak times. We strongly encourage intending passengers to book a guaranteed seat for inter-regional Expressway travel from www.expressway.ie and to be prepared for greater demand on some services, especially during periods of fine weather, at weekends and morning/evening commute times.

Bus Éireann’s vehicles are cleaner than ever, with touchpoint cleaning during the day and deep cleaning overnight.  To facilitate social distancing, waiting areas have been reduced in stations so please do not arrive for your journey more than 15 minutes in advance, you may have to wait outside the station. Bus Éireann encourages customers to use Leap Cards, Automatic Ticket Machines and online ticket purchase from www.buseireann.ie
