The East of Ireland’s regional winner of the Bus Eireann’s ‘Go Places’ competition has been announced. Aoibhinn Egan, a Transition Year student who attends St Leo’s College in Carlow, delighted the judges with her creative video which depicted her friends and classmates travelling to school on foot, by bus and cycling and the odd spot of retail therapy!

Aoibhinn was one of three lucky regional winners who won an iPad each while the overall winner, while Cliona Riordan from Coláiste Choilm in Balincollig, Co Cork was the Southern Region and overall national winner and received a day trip to Tayto Park for her TY class.

Aoibhinn travelled to Bus Éireann HQ in Dublin to receive her iPad from Bus Éireann and was given her prize by Siobhán Griffin, Regional School Transport Manager East and John Sheridan, Acting Manager, Media & PR.

Stephen Kent, CEO of Bus Éireann said, “Aoibhinn’s submission was not only a creative visual tale of her friend’s journey to school, but it was also very light-hearted and humorous, depicting their journey to & from school and the interesting things they see and do en-route, from enjoying the local Buskers’ to a spot of shopping!

Bus Éireann is proud to have operated the School Transport Scheme on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills for over 50 years. Every day in Carlow alone it transports over 2,300 pupils to and from school on 104 buses, on 157 school routes.
