Bus Éireann announces improved services and timetables on Route S2, Strandhill to Rosses Point

Bus Éireann, Ireland’s national bus company, is pleased to announce significantly enhanced services and timetables on Route S2, Strandhill to Rosses Point which will come into effect on Sunday, 17 December.

The significantly enhanced Route S2 is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.

Route S2, Strandhill to Rosses Point will offer passengers double the current route frequency, providing thirty one daily round trips Monday to Friday, with twenty nine return trips on a Saturday and twenty six on a Sunday. The improved service offers expanded hours of operation with earlier departures from Strandhill at 6.00am and later departures at 23.30pm Monday - Friday. The enhanced service will provide passengers with increased connectivity with ATU Sligo, Sligo University Hospital and rail services.

Bus Éireann Route S2 will serve Strandhill, Buenos Ayres Drive, Kilbrone Drive, Mannionstown, Sligo GAA, Second Sea Road, Sea Road, Strandhill Road, Sligo, Connaughton Road, Sligo University Hopspital, ATU Sligo, Clarion Road, Ballytivnan Road, Rosses Point Road, Balllincar, Creggs Corner and Rosses Point.

“Bus Éireann is delighted to introduce these significant enhancements to Route S2, Strandhill to Rosses Point, doubling the daily services for our passengers Monday to Sunday, providing expanded hours of operation across the route,” said Brian Connolly, Bus Éireann, Senior Operations Manager, West. “Thanks to the National Transport Authority, through the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, we have added almost 1.8 million kilometres to our network this month, creating over 58 new jobs. Demand for our services in the West is higher now than pre-pandemic, passenger numbers nationally are 20-30% higher than they were in 2019, this enhanced service will enable us to connect our growing number of customers with who and what matters to them.”
