Enjoy sightseeing around the West of Ireland with Bus Éireann

Bus Éireann summer tours of the West of Ireland are back up and running, following on from its successful run last year.

The tours will operate until the middle of September enabling customers to travel through some of the most picturesque and stunning scenery that the West of Ireland has to offer.

Every Thursday until the 27 September, see Ireland’s only Fjord with a trip on the Killary Fjord afternoon Cruise.  Complimentary tea/coffee and scones are served on board. This is following on from a morning visit to Kylemore Abbey and its Victorian Walled Gardens. Located in Connemara, Kylemore Abbey and the surrounding mountains are steeped in history from beginning to present day. Visitors can embrace the Abbey, the Gothic Church, the six acre Victorian Walled Gardens as well as viewing the spectacular lake, wildlife and wooded walks this breathtaking place has to offer.

The Achill Island tour takes place every Tuesday until 26 September.  A bus tour of Ireland’s largest island Achill, includes a combination of glacial and coastal features, which will leave cherished memories for many years. With ancient monuments like Grace O’Malley Castle and magnificent views from the peaks of Croaghhaun and Slievemore and sightings of rare bird species, this is a tour not to be missed. It also includes a tour of the secret garden, which is followed by tea and cake.

This year, Bus Éireann is also offering a brand new alternative option to the Foxford Woollen Mills and Turlough Museum of country life, which will operate every Wednesday. The Woollen Mills was founded in 1892 and opened to the public in 1992. Here people can view local craftspeople producing the “World Famous” blankets, rugs and tweeds.  Visitors can embrace the great exhibitions in the Turlough Museum of country life, which show a collection of objects representing the traditional way of life in Ireland since 1850.

All tours will depart from Ballina Bus Station at 09:00, Castlebar at 09:45 and from Westport Tourist Office at 10:30.
