Capacity on public transport returns to 50%

As we welcome capacity on public transport returning to 50% and the reopening of intercounty travel this Monday, 10 May, Bus Éireann is advising customers to

  • travel outside of peak times, where possible.  Peak demand is before 9.00am and between 4.00 and 6.00pm.
  • book a guaranteed seat for Expressway inter-regional travel at expressway.ie
  • to be prepared for greater demand on some services, especially during fine weather

For the first time, guaranteed seat booking is now available for all Expressway routes, including for holders of free travel passes.  Passengers are urged to pre-book their outbound and return journeys online at expressway.ie to ensure they have a seat for their journey, as walk up seats may not be available.

Over the past year, Bus Eireann has introduced new services and schedules, so if you haven't travelled for some time, please check our websites to plan your trip.

Customers are reminded that the law requires face masks to be worn on public transport.  Hand sanitising units are now available on board and Bus Eireann's vehicles are cleaned throughout the day and deep cleaned overnight.  The 50% capacity limit relates to seated and standing passengers.
